Victoria BrinemughaI completed my Bachelor's degree at The Pennsylvania State University in Architectural Engineering - Mechanical option. The primary reason I chose this career field was because it gave me the opportunity to eventually transition into sustainability design. As sustainable design is the corner stone for a brighter future really.
Prior to my graduation I had the opportunity to study abroad in China, which for me was a different type of obstacle to conquer. Navigating a place with significant barriers - through the food, scenery and language, was an exceptional experience. The biggest lesson I learned from my experience in China, was really understanding the gap between designers and contractors especially for international projects. Recently, I completed a long desired goal to work abroad in South Africa. Working abroad, as a professional in a different country was extremely challenging in the beginning. Looking back at my exceptionally amazing experience in South Africa, I am more than ever confident in the sustainable growth of buildings in Africa . I've come to realize how much of an impact I can make as a design engineer by just including a little bit of responsibility with my design decision making. |
